I've been thinking about checking out the jungle again, but the water spirit's the one that claimed me here. Apparently if you have someone air-aligned with you, that can take care of the problem, though.
[ oh man oh man, just the idea of this is getting him pumped. he saw some natural caves from his air surveys on skarmory, and he's been dying to check them out. if he has someone by his side, things will definitely be safer (and more fun). ]
In that case, I'd be more than happy to offer my services.
[Reminded of her plans, Korra's expression immediately turns more sober.]
I was thinking there's so much spiritual stuff going on in the colony, maybe the jungle would give us some clues about what actually happened before we got here. Both CERES and the spirits keep dodging around the subject, so it looks like we'll have to do some digging around for answers on our own.
Anyway. [Korra shakes her head slightly.] What kind of plans did you have?
I must admit I'm a little curious about that, too. We won't get anywhere if we just wait around for information to be revealed to us. Even then, CERES has the power to pick and choose what they show. We need an unbiased, full story.
[ he seems pensive for a moment, but his expression lightens a bit. ]
They're a little less imperative than yours, I'm afraid. Others have managed to document common flora and fauna found beyond the wall, but there's little to no information on geological specimens. There are plenty of natural caves in the area, so I wanted to see what I could find and bring back for further study.
An unbiased, full story sounds like exactly what we need.
[If only there were easier ways of getting the information out of anyone who knew the answers..]
Huh. [Steven's own plans has her curious.] You're right. I've heard a bunch of things about the monsters and plants out there, but nothing about the types of rocks. Is that something you did back in your world, too?
[There's a very noticeable shift in his attitude as soon as he starts talking about his hobbies, Korra can't help but grin.]
It's too bad we're nowhere near my world. My metalbending teacher collects a bunch of meteorites--and she probably could've helped you dig up some rare rocks with her earthbending, too. [A pause, as she makes a comical face.] What am I saying? I'm an earthbender, too. I'll help you look.
[ he has some at home already, but the prospect of others is ridiculously intriguing. a new world meant new specimens to discover and collect, and he intends to do just that! ]
Would you really? I usually have my Pokémon help me, but your bending could definitely move the digging process along!
Yeah, meteorites. [A private little smile, like she's remembering something.] Apparently the people of Zaofu have a bunch of hobbies, and collecting meteorites is just one of them.
And, sure I would. I mean, you're helping me out here, too. This way, we can both find what we're looking for. [Hopefully.]
[ holy shit, he's excited now. he's seen her earthbending in action, and having her helping by his side would be a lot less risky than aggron, seeing as how big and heavy he was. this could open so many doors. ]
That sounds like a plan to me! Hopefully our exploration will shed some light on a few things.
Sometimes going in blind can lead to great discoveries, Korra. With your spiritual senses and my intuition, I'm confident we can find something worthwhile.
[ he's got a good hunch about this, and his hunches are never wrong! whatever they find, something is bound to be valuable. ]
[Steven's reassurance is appreciated, especially when she's feeling sore over her own abilities. With him being so optimistic, Korra feels some of her worries lighten.]
Soooo when do you think is a good time to go? We should give ourselves time to pack and everything.
[ it's hard for him not to be optimistic about all of this - it all seems very promising, and as long as they're careful, they're definitely going to find something new to look into. that's a per about travelling into the unknown. ]
Would you be ready to depart in a few days? It shouldn't take me too long to assemble the materials I need.
[ adrien's settling in and between the Complicated Situation mixed in with the questionable details and the Weirdness, he's starting to figure home is some time away. which is... well. one-half liberating one half-worrying (putting aside what they've told him, which he's already thrown into the Not True bin), because he's the kid of an overprotective father and he'sclueless about what Actually Living Alone entails (which is pretty different than living alone in a house with a staff, believe it or not).
considering he's also starting to figure that plagg's plan of "let's just live off camembert" is also not completely valid, this leaves his plan of actually figuring out how the heck to survive as the only thing left for him to do.
so. time to bother the most adulty adult he knows, trusts and has been talking to in this place. SKARMORY.
no just kidding it's $teven. ]
Hey, Steven. Sorry if I'm bothering you, but I kind of need help with something.
[ ah yes, he knows the feel. and while steven is also a child of a very affluent background, he's actually got living alone pretty down pact! going on a pokemon journey certainly helped with his independence from servants and wait staff, though... it's still easy to see that he was raised in the lap of luxury.
but he's still a definitive Responsible Adult, so he'll reply to the text accordingly. ]
You're not a bother at all, Adrien. What can I do for you?
[ thank god for Responsible Adults. actually just thank god for steven, who's always a big help.
there's a lull. honestly, even if this is steven, asking this is just a tad bit embarrassing. being surrounded by all this everything just made his world seem a little smaller; all these life-threatening issues and here he is wondering how to cook of all things. ]
It's a little silly|
[ nope. backspace backspace backspace.
if he was chat, this was where he'd put in the cat emoji. and he'd go: (^=˃ᆺ˂) i'm purrty sure i'm going to burn down the apt! (FLAME EMOJI) (FLAME EMOJI). less cat puns if it was a text to nino, but this isn't a text to nino, and this isn't a text as chat.
god. ]
Well... This is actually the first time I've been alone.
[ alone alone!! ]
and I'm kind of lost?
[ ggggggooooddd. this is the best impression to make on steven, who is so cool and not at all a loser nerd who likes rocks too much. ]
[ the pause in messages has him wondering exactly what adrien has to ask him - it could be a multitude of things, and he can only hope that he can provide the help he needs. he considers himself a good role model, but adrien isn't a pokémon trainer. if it's personal, he may run into some trouble...
but now's not the time to dwell on that. he has a new message. it's... oh. adrien... ]
and it occurs to adrien to maybe explain his situation so it's less sad, but then that entails touching on his irregular background and rigid schedules, right down to nutritionists. that's... awkward, and one of the good parts about this whole thing is that he got to move away from that.
he doesn't feel judged, however, which is more due to the fact that it's steven than anything else. ]
More like completely not sure. I may have been putting it nicely?
[ inside his mind: (PRAYER EMOJI) (PRAYER EMOJI) ]
I had a lot of help before, so this is all pretty new.
[ and he's not looking to judge! actually, it kind of brings him back a little - before he set out on his journey, being raised in the stone household was filled with lessons and schedules. while the fact that steven's father wasn't completely evil made things a little less rigid than they were for adrien, he can still understand the sentiment. ]
It takes bravery to admit something like that, you know. Even if it's put "nicely".
[ u should be proud, kid. humility is a gentleman's first step! ]
