[ and beldum is very happy! while it's still a child, one thing that it's good at is breaking the ice when people feel awkward. when minato sits down, it'll float on over to boop him gently on the cheek. long time no see! ]

It is. It's always been one to wear its heart on its sleeve.

[ his smile remains as he gently pets the top of metagross' head. the cool, hard steel wouldn't be comfortable to most, but steven loves it. ]

This one is Metagross. It's my closest partner.

Ah. [Minato's a bit touched by what Beldum does, and he holds out a hand to touch the Pokemon in return.

Animals, mythological beings, Pokemon...whatever they're called, he can't say they're any much harder to understand than people at times.]

The two of you must be really close if it'll let you sit on it. [Then he points towards Beldum.] I'm kind of curious though...are they related?

[ yes!!! it'll be nuzzling right into that offered hand - it feels a lot like metagross does, despite the different colouring. ]

I should hope so - we've been together for a very long time.

[ he's not kidding when he said that metagross is his closest partner - it was his first pokémon, receiving it as a beldum when he was just starting out his journey as a young boy. when someone inquires about them, he's always more than happy to respond. ]

In a way, yes. With proper training and under the right conditions, a Beldum will eventually grow into a Metagross through a process known as evolution.

I see. [And he really does, taking a look at Beldum then at Metagross and being at least a little impressed that a creature with one eye can grow to be that big in a short span of time.]

Evolution takes thousands of years in my world...it's kind of amazing that Pokemon in your world grow so quickly, and that they bond well with people.

[ it does take plenty of time for a beldum to evolve into a metagross, but certainly not thousands of years. ]

I'm glad you think so! I also think it's a wonderful thing. Pokémon and humans have always coexisted with one another, and while those bonds have changed over history, their roots can always be seen in how we interact every day.

[ but he won't wax poetic for too long. he'll hop off of metagross' back in a fluid motion, straightening out the cuffs of his suit jacket. ]

Ah... But you didn't come here for my rambling, did you? [ he caught himself - he's getting better at that. ] I noticed that you weren't specific when you asked to see my Pokémon - I have others, if you're still curious.

[It's true, Minato is far less patient for rambling than he might seem but it's not as if Steven is on the level of Junpei.]

Yeah, I'd like to see them. It's kind of funny, though...people in my world keep pets and bond with them too, so our worlds might not be all that different.

[Except maybe for the part where Shadows and the Dark Hour are involved. Maybe.]

While I don't doubt the truth in that, I think that my companions may be slightly different from your run-of-the-mill housepet.

[ there are a remaining six poké balls on his belt that he takes in hand, then throws into the air. once they've all opened with their respective bursts of energy, the creatures materialize at his side, all staring at minato inquisitively. it's as he said - most of them (barring carbink and aron) don't seem like they would make very good pets. they look strong and well-trained, to the point of being fairly intimidating. ]

[Skarmory he's seen before and gets a polite nod, but as for the others...while Minato logically agrees with Steven that they're nothing like common pets he's spent a bit too much time with eldritch abominations inside his head to either be intimidated or to say that he wouldn't keep one as a pet were he to have one.]

Some people in my world keep dogs as guards...I wouldn't mind one, though. [It's about as straightly said as if he'd pointed out that the sky is sunny today, and he blinks before addressing Steven's team.] Hello.

[ that works too! the next best thing from being impressed by his team is being intrigued by them, so that reaction is one that steven won't scoff at. ]

You and I are of the same persuasion, then.

[ upon being addressed, each creature will bow their heads in respectful greeting. but once the general pleasantries are over with, aron will be waddling over to get a closer look at him. she's the curious one of the group. ]
