he certainly understands why Archie has come to visit, but doesn't particularly enjoy the fact that he visited in person. they could have met at a different location - this one is personal, and he's uncomfortable with someone he, in mild terms, "greatly distrusts" being in a space that he holds dear.
all the same, Steven knows why he's here. he doesn't look like he was busy with any of his desk work - instead, he seems to be pacing. he looks up at the knock on the door, cutting off any mental conversation he seems to have been having. his brow is furrowed, the chill of the room intensifying for a split moment. ]
I was going to reach out to you. [ but at an arm's length. this makes things more personal, and he's uncomfortable with it. he looks to Ignis with concern, sending a telepathic "Are you alright?" before he speaks to him out loud. ] I have a feeling I know why. Come in.
[Ignis knows when to offer others their privacy, and he clears his throat softly before proceeding to step out.]
I'll go start water for coffee.
[If only because it's good manners, as well a convenient excuse to slip away— which he does, leaving them to speak to one another freely, though not without offering Steven a brief telepathic response: 'I'm fine. Call on me if you need me, I won't be far.']
[ with a telepathic acknowledgement to Ignis' response, his attention moves to Archie. his first impulse is to chide him for showing up at his doorstep unannounced, but he holds it back in the interest of decorum and more prominent issues at hand. ]
The timing is unfortunate, but sudden disappearances aren't unheard of. It's simply the way that this world works.

[he makes A Face. like... he's committed enough to atoning for what he did that he would actually go along with whatever steven forced him to do, but he wouldn't be happy about it. fortunately, though, he doesn't really have the energy or desire to be as shitty as he possibly could about this right now.]
What about Lance? The farm? Her Pokémon would've gone with her, wouldn't they?

Hm, [he grunts. perhaps ironically, his behaviour is likely making him come off as quite thick-headed, given how archie is treating steven and the situation they've found themselves in. there's no level of seriousness in his attitude, though he's starting to see it now.

Telling someone upfront about disappearances tends to be better than them discovering it on their own. Seeing as this is the first time he's experienced it, I'm sure he'll also want an explanation.
