[ a fancy lavender envelope will be delivered to steven's doorstep today! it's sealed with a blue snowflake stamp, and when opened, it will reveal an invite.
the party will be on march 6 oocly! and the address on the invite is weiss' home. ]
You might be wondering why I'm writing a letter to you. It's because of the task on the taskboard. The mailman said that their business is dying, and I just can't have that. Writing letters is such a good form of communication, and it's much more personal.
In any case, I would like to invite you to take upon a task with me. There's a hunting task that I'm interested in doing because of its reward. There are some stones in the outskirts of town that have come to life and have turned into monsters. I was thinking about doing it with Nora, as well.
Please let me know if you're interested. And thank you for reading this letter.
[As cool as the amulets can be, especially when it comes to share memories, some times Bianca wishes she could just have an X-transceiver. Like now. Will Steven pay too much attention to her sad mood that she can't hide from the link?
Her voice tries to sound normal at least, but anyone that knows her would be able to tell she's lacking some of her usual cheer.]
Steven? He-hey! Do you have a moment? I-I was hoping you could help me with something...
[Someone as perceptive as Nora could easily detect Steven's recent mood drop. So, just like before, Nora drops by Steven's place unannounced with a box of croissants.
She glances down at her feet, wondering what happened with him.]
[ No matter what Steven is doing at Ruby's birthday party, he'll likely notice a presence staring at him from across the room. The first few times, it seems as if it's just a coincidence, but as it goes on, it gets more and more ridiculous.
For example, Jaune will stare from around the corner of a room, or when he's pretending to talk to somebody, he moves the person aside to get a better look at Steven.
If Steven is near the window, Jaune is hiding behind the curtains. If Steven moves away, Jaune follows and brings the curtains with him.
And if Steven goes to the bathroom? Jaune will respectfully wait outside because he's not a maniac.
However, this will go on until Steven eventually addresses him! ]
[ When Steven wakes, he will find that his crystal is glowing! His emotion drops for the month of Octha have resonated with Empatheias' giant crystal, and a reaction has been formed.
By his feet, he will find a pair of knitted shorts. If he ever puts them on, he will feel so comfortable in them, however, his patience will run a little thin so long as he has them on.
(Thank you for submitting to the Emotion Tracker!) ]
Steven will receive a tie clip and cufflink set. The card that comes with it merely reads "I think these will look good on you. They match your eyes. Merry Christmas!" in neat cursive. There's a stamp of a blue snowflake at the bottom of the card, though. That might give him a clue as to who the gift is from. ]
[Edna may not know Steven very well, but she knows one thing about him.
Rocks.
So Edna found a collection of "supernatural rocks and crystals" for sale in a kitschy shop and has given it to Steven with a small notebook of Edna's commentary on these "supernatural" rocks and their purported health benefits.
[Neither of them may really celebrate Christmas, but Steven still gets a gift from Leia. She isn't sure what Pokemon like Beldum eat, or even play with, otherwise she would have included something for them. Instead, what Steven receives are tools to use on his next cave-diving rock expedition. Hammer and chisels, a small case for the rocks, stuff he likely wears down whenever he goes on the hunt for more fancy rocks.]
If you ask me, I don't think you can have enough backup tools, and these I thought you could get some use out of.
--Leia
P.S. If you have the time, I'd recommend talking with Obi-Wan Kenobi about something called Kyber Crystals. I think you'd find it fascinating.
'Christmas' present. In time for... other-calendar Christmas.
Regis has learned about Steven's love for actual rocks, so the young man gets a little transparent box holding one of the rocks from the island where they went to get spare crystals after the thefts. One of the crystals that trigger exchange of memories between people who are close by.
The present is very carefully packaged and labeled, with due warnings, but since Regis picked a few of those to study during that trip to the other floating island, he hopes this might be as fascinating to Steven as it is to him.
[Early mornings tend to be Ignis' default, but the day following Noct and Luna's wedding is one of the few exceptions to his general rule of being up with the sun. It's still early by most people's standards when he wakes, stretching out for a moment beneath the covers. Though he can't see, he can sense light well enough to know that the sun has already risen, and he recalls that he had left his shirt, jacket and tie strewn across one of the armchairs in his room rather than putting them away properly the night before.
Given the amount of champagne that had been consumed the night before, as well as the general atmosphere, he hadn't been too concerned about taking proper care of his clothes at the time. Truth be told, he wasn't quite so worried about it now, either, as much as he might have been on any other day.
He carefully shifts beneath the sheets and rolls onto one side to gently put an arm around Steven's waist, uncertain of just how unconscious he might be.]
We should talk somewhere where we can probably sit down, then.
[ She's trying her best to act mature -- she has to be, after all. Her shoulders have been squared the whole time but she relaxes a little as she turns to look around. ]
[May's battle with Lance had been interesting in quite a few ways, in both watching a high-level Pokemon battle and in what Steven had mentioned after the battle. It may not have been the time or place to have that conversation then, but now was a different story, as long as Steven was feeling up to it.]
You mentioned something about May going above and beyond the duties of most Trainers her age the other day.
[With that prompting, she'll leave it up to Steven to decide where to begin.]
[The house atmosphere has been tense for the last several days, and Ignis is certain he knows why, though he hasn't been able to bring himself to utter the words to any of his housemates. They're all dealing with a particular anniversary in their own ways, but he's also noted that the shift in mood isn't limited to those from Eos.
As for what's made Steven so pensive, he's sure he can guess, but he would rather that Steven say for himself whenever he's ready. Still, Ignis doesn't intend to let his partner's brooding go unremarked, and so when he comes home from an early day at the Hearth mid-afternoon, he comes bearing two cups from Steambucks: coffee for himself, and tea for Steven. He heads towards the study when he arrives home, taking a guess at where Steven might be holed up, clearing his throat as he gently raps his knuckles against the open door.]
Please tell me I'm not knocking at an empty room.
[Once again, the utter inconvenience of being blind rears its ugly and potentially embarrassing head.]
[there is no way archie will be able to keep his brain in order to message anyone - especially steven, especially about this - so he doesn't even try. part of him doesn't even want to tell the former champion at all, doesn't want to even admit what'd happened out loud and doesn't want to have to deal with the fall out at all. this is the first person he's been close to that has left-- archie still can't stop himself thinking that maybe it was something he did or said. people don't just leave realities, right? even if they did to get here. obviously, this time is different.
crobat is out flying around, looking over the city for her. just in case. at least he knows for sure that she wasn't left behind on brinndosi; he might very well have lost his mind again if that had been the case.
he gets to steven's place about five minutes before he knocks, needing to work up to it.
[ The first gift betrays just how much of a nerd Noctis can be and how much he loves animals. Steven will receive a set of small beds for his Pokemon to sleep in.
The second gift is a geology 'set' that Noctis created himself. Probably, Steven has all of these, but Noctis hopes to either improve upon them or replace something that may be worn down. Steven made Ignis happy, after all.
The kit includes a smaller pickaxe, a bright flashlight that can be attached to one's head, a new microscope, a divided kit for storing rocks, and a plain white coat. Scientists wear those, right?]
