The interesting parallel between animals and Pokemon is that they have an uncanny way of forming bonds with humans, even in the oddest of circumstances. I have a feeling Nanu will warm up to him in time.

There are a few, yes. Crowe owns a cat of her own, and there's also a chocobo - a creature of Ignis' world. It looks a bit like a large Torchic.
